Elected to the Town Board in November 2013, Stephen ("Hookie") Hook serves as the Deputy Town Supervisor; a role that has him overseeing much of the day-to-day operations of the town.
A resident of Columbia County for more than 40 years, Hookie has been actively involved in the Claverack community for decades.
In addition to his work on the Town Board, Hookie has contributed to his community through work with various civic groups, local organizations, and community Boards, including three terms on the Columbia County Planning Board and serving as Chairman of the Town of Claverack Planning Board where he worked to protect the rights of property owners, while balancing the needs of the greater community. As chairman of the Planning Board, Hookie demanded transparency and fairness and strived to find common ground to satisfy the needs of all interested parties, while working within the confines of the law; much the same as he does as Deputy Town Supervisor and Town Councilman.
Hookie has volunteered his time and talents for the Mellenville-Philmont Food Pantry, the Claverack Fire Company, the Claverack Summer Concert Series and the Annual Emergency Services Appreciation Night as well as other groups and causes that benefit our town.
