All registered Republicans in the Town of Claverack (includes Philmont) are invited to attend the Claverack Republican Town Caucus on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Claverack Town Park Pavilion. "Doors close" at 7:00 PM sharp, so don't be late!
The following endorsed candidates will be nominated for election/re-election:
Town Supervisor - Kippy Weigelt
Town Councilman - Stephen Hook
Town Councilman - Doug Colwell
Town Clerk - Mary Jeanne Hoose
Highway Superintendent - Louie LaMont
This team has worked hard to keep budgets tight, spending in check and taxes low in the Town of Claverack. Five straight years of tax cuts!
As the COVID-19 pandemic began to take it's toll economically on local governments last year, Claverack was fortunate to have an experienced team ready and willing to meet the challenge. The decisions made by this team in the years prior to the pandemic, and in the leadup to the potential financial crisis caused by the pandemic, allowed the town to remain in a positive financial position; avoiding the need to layoff town employees, the need to dramatically reduce town services, and avoiding the need to raise taxes to offset expenses.
What's going on in Albany right now, thanks to Cuomo and the downstate Democratic majorities in the State Senate and the State Assembly, is disgusting and unacceptable. It's not New York, and it's certainly not Claverack. They could learn by our example.
Please get involved to help us keep Claverack and Philmont from becoming the next community that the downstate extreme left seize control of. Kippy, Hookie, Doug, Mary Jeanne and Louie are anything but extreme. They live here, they understand the needs of our community and they have proven their ability to lead under pressure when we need them most.
The are all most deserving of our votes.
If you are a registered Republican residing in the Town of Claverack (including Philmont) we encourage you to attend this event.
