Four years ago I wrote a letter asking Claverack residents to support my brother Brian Keeler’s candidacy for Claverack Town Council. He was elected, and now I am asking you to support him once again in his bid for reelection on Nov. 7.
My reasons are straightforward: his lifelong character traits, business experience, and his performance in his first term on the council. As I stated four years ago, throughout his life Brian has espoused great moral, familial, financial, and leadership qualities. He has the same strong work ethic characteristic of so many area farm families. He is intelligent, well-rounded, and the most unselfish person I know. His 30+ years of service as a Claverack volunteer fireman is but one example of that. He has been a successful sales representative, small business owner, Vice President/Chief Operating Officer/President of a $30M business with over 200 employees, and is now Director of Care Center Operations (36 locations) at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
During the past four years the Claverack Town Council has accomplished much to promulgate the best interests of the township. They developed budgets that were all compliant with the state tax-cap allowing property owners to receive tax rebate checks; consolidated town departments/personnel to bring down the cost of government while maintaining services; maintained strong support of town Fire/EMS/Police emergency services; and enacted infrastructure improvements, including replacement of the Millbrook Road bridge.
I grew up in Claverack, and although my wife Denise and I currently live out of state, we own land in Claverack and plan to retire there soon. It has been a great comfort to know that my brother Brian has helped manage the affairs of Claverack these past four years, and I firmly believe his tenure should con-tinue. His character, experience, business acumen, and passion and love for Claverack will enable him to faithfully serve township residents for another four years. For these reasons I, along with my brother Ned (who served as a Claverack volunteer fireman in various capacities for 34 years, eight of those as Fire Chief) and my brother P.J. (current Columbia County Treasurer and Emergency Medical Services Coordi-nator (17 years), and Claverack volunteer fireman) strongly endorse our brother Brian Keeler for Claverack Town Council!
